My name is Cate Mittweg and I am a 17 year old photographer in my last year of high school. I live in Los Angeles with my mother, father, and my dog Remi. Photography has always been an outlet of creative expression for me, and I love how it allows me to look at the world in a different way.
Throughout my life I have always dreamed of being an artist. I wanted to be able to see something and paint a beautiful rendition of it or sing a melody and hit every note, but was told that I didn’t have that “artistic” talent. So I would sit back and think about what being an “artist” really meant. Did it mean being able to hold that note or paint that portrait? No. I soon realized that being an artist was about making something that expresses yourself and inspires others. So that’s why I got into photography. I wanted to make pictures to capture a moment or a memory or maybe even something no one has ever seen before. I want people to look at my work and be inspired enough to pick up a camera or their phone, and make photos that they can be proud of and make a difference in the world. Photography is a way for people to stand up for a cause or show the world who they are visually, and that’s what I intend to do with my work until there are no more photos left for me to take.
